Talks between the cast members and the creators of the NBC comedy are reportedly underway for the unscripted reunion special for the mega-hit show's 25th anniversary.

AceShowbiz - This is the big win for "Friends" fans! According to a new report, a reunion special for the mega-hit TV show's 25th anniversary is in the works on HBO Max with the six core stars returning.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that talks between the cast members and the creators of the NBC comedy are currently underway for the unscripted reunion special. It is said that stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer are joining the planned project. Also involved in the project are series creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman.
However, it is worth to be noted that a deal is still far to be reached with the site adding that "agreements with cast and creatives still need to be hammered out." In addition, the site says the talks could fizzle as it's challenging to match everyone's schedule.
Fans undoubtedly are thrilled over the news. One fan joked on Twitter about Matt's character, "Very bittersweet day for Joey Tribbiani. First #DaysofOurLives is canceled but then it's announced that there might be a #Friends reunion on #HBOMax." Another fan added, "A sit down reunion with the creators and cast would be great. I love friends too much for them to do a reboot. The series is perfect as it is and where they left it."
HBO Max and Warner Bros. TV producers reportedly declined the request for comments on the matter.
The report arrives as "Friends" is set to leave Netflix at the end of this year before heading to WarnerMedia-backed HBO Max. Rumor has it, WarnerMedia paid $85 million per year for five years ($425 million) to reclaim streaming rights to the hit TV series for its own platform, outbidding Netflix which paid $80 million to $100 million to keep "Friends" on its service for 2019.
Previously, Jennifer was quick to shut down rumors of a "Friends" reboot during her appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" back in October. Although she answered question about the reboot with a flat no, the actress added, "We would love for there to be something, but we don't know what that something is. So we're just trying. We're working on something."
Jennifer is currently airing on Apple TV+'s "The Morning Show", which marks her first TV series regular role since she wrapped "Friends". Premiering on November 1, the show sees Jennifer starring opposite her "Friends" onscreen sister, Reese Witherspoon.
