When asked about the possible storyline for 'Thor: Love and Thunder', Taika Waititi points out at the part in the comic books that he regards to be a really powerful one.

AceShowbiz - Natalie Portman's Mighty Thor may battle breast cancer as she did in the comic books, director Taika Waititi has revealed.
Earlier this year, it was confirmed that not only was the Oscar-winning actress returning to Marvel's franchise as Dr. Jane Foster in "Thor: Love and Thunder", but she would be playing The Mighty Thor.
Now Taika has dropped hints about the upcoming film, due for release in November 2021, telling Variety that he is considering following a similar storyline to the comic books for the movie.
"I think that's a really powerful part of the books," Taika said of Jane's breast cancer battle. "I think it's really cool that she's fighting this thing and there's two battles going on. Personally I really love that storyline. But whether it ends up in the film is yet to be seen."
"We're not sure if we're going to do a complete lift of that whole storyline. These things change through the shoot and even when we're editing sometimes. Like, 'Let's get rid of that storyline where she's got breast cancer. We'll change it to something else, or maybe she's fine.' "
In the comic books, Thor loses his superhero title after becoming unworthy to wield his magical hammer, Mjolnir. A mysterious female then picks up the hammer and calls herself The Mighty Thor while, elsewhere, Jane is diagnosed and treated for breast cancer.
Jason Aaron's comic book series later reveals that Jane and The Mighty Thor are the same person, with the super power helping her rid herself of the cancer when as her alter ego. However, the disease still takes its toll on Jane's body in human form.
"Thor: Love and Thunder" is set to begin shooting next year.
