The Australian hunk says in a new interview that he hopes there will be a conclusion for his on-screen alter ego, believing it's time to 'close the book' on his character.

AceShowbiz - Chris Hemsworth is seemingly prepared to bid farewell to his beloved alter ego Thor. One of the OGs of The Avengers in Marvel Cinematic Universe, he is ready to follow in the footsteps of his co-stars Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans to hang their suits.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the Australian hunk admitted that he believes it's time to "close the book" on his character, predicting the superhero's "death" when he reprises the role in his next Marvel movie. "Yeah, for sure," he said when asked if hopes there will be a conclusion for Thor. "I feel like we'd probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean? I feel like it probably warrants that."

Noting that there hasn't been official talk about Thor's future, Hemsworth further weighed in, "I feel like it'd probably be the finale, but that's not based on anything anyone's told me or any sort of plans." He explained the natural cycle of a character, "You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don't know-am I at that stage? Who knows?"

Hemsworth last played Thor in "Thor: Love and Thunder", which serves as the fourth installment of the superhero solo film series. While it was a box office success, becoming the sixth highest-grossing film of 2022 so far, a follow-up has not been greenlit just yet.

In response to a question if there is more Thor in his future, the 39-year-old said, "I don't know. I think there'd be more to say if the people want to hear me say it." When the outlet pointed out that the end of "Love and Thunder" seemed to promise more, he responded, "Yeah, I think they always do. Look, I'm completely open to it, if there is something unique and fresh and unexpected to do with the character and the world. I've always loved the experience. I've been very thankful I've been able to do something different each time."

In a separate interview with "Good Morning America", Hemsworth similarly hinted that nothing has been planned for his character's future after the last movie. "Uh, I don't know. I'm sort of… finished my run for the time being but never say never," he said. "I love playing the character. My daughter, the other day, was saying, 'No, no, Dad, you've gotta do it. People love seeing you play Thor.' And so, who knows?"
