Teaming up with Channel 4 for a new documentary titled 'Warrior Woman with Lupita Nyong'o', the 'Black Panther' actress will investigate the 'thrilling, haunting and emotional' story of 'Agoji'.

AceShowbiz - Lupita Nyong'o is to go on a search for the little-known Agoji female army for new Channel 4 documentary, "Warrior Woman with Lupita Nyong'o".

The Oscar-winning actress will be seen journeying across Benin, West Africa, in search of the tribal army, known to Europeans as the 'Dahomey Amazons', in the factual commission.

The warrior women fought in armies of up to 4,000, between the 17th and 19th centuries, in Benin - or, as it was known back then, the Kingdom of Dahomey.

The "Black Panther" star soon discovers the army isn't just the stuff of stories, but actually existed.

Shaminder Nahal, Commissioning Editor, Specialist Factual, said in a press release: "Lupita Nyong'o's investigation into the real story of the all-female army is thrilling, haunting and emotional. It's amazing the true story of these kick-ass female fighters isn't more widely known - and in telling it, the film challenges dominant narratives about race, women and power. With some surprises along the way."
