At Variety's Entertainment and Technology summit, CEO Tony Vinciquerra clarifies that there was 'no ill will' between them and Marvel, hinting further at possible resolution in the future.

AceShowbiz - Sony Pictures' CEO Tony Vinciquerra has insisted "the door is closed" on the possibility of Spider-Man rejoining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A deal breaker between bosses at Disney and Sony Pictures means Spider-Man will no longer be on loan to Marvel, making Tom Holland's appearance in the role in "Avengers: Endgame" the character's last in the franchise.

And while fans have remained hopeful bosses would eventually negotiate a deal, Vinciquerra disappointed fans at Variety‘s Entertainment & Technology summit this week (begin September 2) by insisting the decision is final.

"For the moment the door is closed," he shared, before clarifying that there was "no ill will" between Sony and Marvel.

He did, however, hint there could possibly be a resolution in the future, adding: "It’s a long life."

"We had a great run with (Marvel Studios' President Kevin Feige) on Spider-Man movies," he continued. "We tried to see if there’s a way to work it out... the Marvel people are terrific people, we have great respect for them, but on the other hand we have some pretty terrific people of our own. Kevin didn’t do all the work."
