Rather than forgiving the Canadian superstar, people get angrier at him because they believe he puts the blame on his friends instead of acknowledging his mistake.

AceShowbiz - Shawn Mendes has become the latest artist whose past problematic social media posts come back to haunt him. The Canadian star has been in hot water after a series of his racist tweets surfaced online, and when he issued an apology for his past actions, people were not so happy about it and continued to slam him even more.

He made his apology during a recent Q&A on his tour, when a fan asked him why Shawn didn't acknowledge his mistake. In response, the "Senorita" singer said, "I didn't mean to not acknowledge it. I just think that a lot of things need to be moved on from. But also I had friends when I was like 14, who would take my phone and post things of them and they thought it was funny that I had 2,000 followers."

"At the time, I was just not thinking about it. I had no idea I was going to have 50 million followers. It doesn't make it any better," Shawn continued. "But... I apologize for everything insensitive that I said in the past... that's not my personality."

Rather than forgiving the star, people became angrier at him because he put the blame on his friends instead of acknowledging his mistake. "The fact that he refuses to take responsibility and blames it on 'friends' is incredibly immature and pathetic. Your actions are your fault, nobody else's," one said.

Some others, meanwhile, compared him to Justin Bieber, who also faced similar problems in the past. Singing praises to the "Boyfriend" singer, an individual wrote, "The real prince of pop took responsibility for his actions, apologized profusely and has shown growth. Meanwhile this clown out here." One other directed the hate to Shawn fans, "This is who you stan and choose over JB? JB at least had the balls to apologize and do better."
