Surprising the film's cast with his appearance at the New Jersey debut, the 'Sherry Darling' rocker takes the stage inside the Paramount Theater to perform some of his classic hits.

AceShowbiz - Bruce Springsteen surprised the cast of "Blinded by the Light" at The Boss-inspired film's New Jersey premiere on Wednesday (August 07).

The star walked the red carpet at the launch of the movie, which is about a Springsteen obsessed Muslim teenager growing up in 1980s England, with his wife Patti Scialfa outside the Paramount Theater on Asbury Park's boardwalk. He also joined director Gurinder Chadha and her family.

One person who wasn't expecting to see the "Born in the U.S.A." hitmaker, however, was the movie's star Viveik Kalra, who confessed she was shocked by the musician's attendance.

"No one told me that was going to happen!" the British actor told local outlet the Asbury Park Press.

Springsteen, who did not take questions from the media, then staged a short concert inside the cinema, as he played some of his classic hits, including a version of "Sherry Darling" that was filmed by one fan and posted on Twitter.

Chadha's film is based on the book "Greetings from Bury Park", a memoir by Sarfraz Manzoor, and also features music by classic '80s acts including the Pet Shop Boys and a-ha.

"Blinded by the Light", which also stars Hayley Atwell and British comedian Rob Brydon, debuts in cinemas on Friday.
