AceShowbiz - Jussie Smollett got everyone talking earlier this year after he was attacked by two masked men, who were said to be Donald Trump supporters. However, as the investigation continued, police started suspecting that the "Empire" star filed a false police report. In February, he was arrested after authorities found evidence to suggest he staged his attack. He was charged with disorderly conduct/filing a false police report.
His arrest became a huge debate on social media, with many people still voicing their support for the actor. Among them were some of his fellow celebrities. Tyler Perry wrote, "I have personally spoken to Jussie, and he is adamant that he's telling the truth. Also, everyone that I know who knows him says that he is not the kind of person who would make up such a horrible and awful thing." Meanwhile, Ava DuVernay suggested that the police were the one lying as saying, "I can't blindly believe Chicago PD. The department that covered up shooting Laquan McDonald over a dozen times? That operated an off-site torture facility? That one? I'll wait."
