AceShowbiz - "Black Panther" star Chadwick Boseman will be swinging a sword in his next movie as the first African samurai.
The actor will take on the role of "Yasuke", a Mozambique native who served under Japanese warlord Oda Nobunaga in 16th century Japan, according to Deadline.
Yasuke was a slave to Jesuit missionaries and he became the first black man to set foot on Japanese soil.
"The legend of Yasuke is one of history's best kept secrets, the only person of non-Asian origin to become a Samurai," Boseman said. "That's not just an action movie, that's a cultural event, an exchange, and I am excited to be part of it."
