Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star with a penchant for slacking, faces eviction after being kicked out of his own band. Desperate for cash and a chance to prove his musical worth, he intercepts a phone call meant for his roommate Ned Schneebly, a substitute teacher, and impersonates him to land a gig at the prestigious Horace Green Prep School. What begins as a con job quickly transforms into a mission when Dewey discovers his uptight fifth-grade class possesses incredible musical talent. Seeing them not as students but as the perfect bandmates to help him win the upcoming Battle of the Bands, he secretly transforms the classroom into a rock-and-roll boot camp. Led by Jack Black’s explosive, charismatic performance, the film from director Richard Linklater is a hilarious and heartwarming comedy that celebrates rebellion, self-expression, and the transformative power of music. As Dewey forges a connection with his young prodigies, including the talented but shy Zack and the bossy Summer, he must keep his scheme hidden from the school’s stern principal, played by Joan Cusack, while teaching them that the most important lesson isn't in a textbook—it’s about giving a show-stopping performance.
