Director Christine Crokos describes the World Cup-winning goalkeeper as 'a force of nature who broke down walls in women's sports, both as a player and as a humanitarian.'

AceShowbiz - U.S. soccer star Hope Solo is to be the subject of a new biopic.

The World Cup-winning goalkeeper's life story has been adapted for the big screen by Christine Crokos, who will also direct the film.

Solo was a college superstar at the University of Washington, breaking a number of records, and she went on to represent the U.S. at three World Cups, winning the 2015 tournament, but away from the pitch her life has been dogged by family drama and arrests.

In 2014, she was arrested and charged with two misdemeanour counts of assault in the fourth degree but all charges were dropped last year.

"Hope Solo is a force of nature who broke down walls in women's sports, both as a player and as a humanitarian," Crokos tells Deadline. "Her story is one of pure trailblazing and fierce athleticism - one that many generations to come will honour and look up to."
