All characters of the acclaimed TV series reunite in the city to celebrate South Dakota's statehood, but time has taken a toll on them, especially Al Swearengen.

AceShowbiz - Almost 13 years after the hit series wrapped its story, HBO finally brings back "Deadwood" in a form of movie as it's promised. The network has unleashed the first teaser trailer for "Deadwood: The Movie" which reunites the characters of the acclaimed TV series.

The less-than-a-minute new video opens with Ian McShane's Al Swearengen saying, "This town is a sanctuary," in voiceover. It also offers a glimpse of Timothy Olyphant, Molly Parker and John Hawkes reprising their roles in the film.

They all reunite in the city of Deadwood to celebrate South Dakota's statehood. However, time has taken a toll on the characters, especially Al Swearengen as he's seen butting heads with Sheriff Seth Bullock (Olyphant) in the trailer. The footage is also full of Wild West shootings, hangings and tension.

As for the town, it looks like it has grown into a violent place. The teaser trailer sees people getting either shot or hung left and right here. Also featured in the video are William Sanderson's E.B. Farnum and Paula Malcomson's Trivie.

Taking place 12 years following the finale of the original TV series, "Deadwood: The Movie" is written by David Milch, who created the series. Daniel Minahan has been attached to helm the movie.

"Deadwood" ran on HBO for three seasons from 2004-2006. Deemed as one of the best television dramas of all time, the series nabbed eigth Emmys throughout the seasons. Following the cancellation, it was rumored that HBO was producing a movie based on the series. The network confirmed the movie at its Television Critics Association summer press tour last July.

"All of these people worked hard to get this together," HBO programming president Casey Bloys said at the time. "It's been a logistics nightmare getting all the cast members' schedules together, but we are there."
