AceShowbiz - Ariana Grande pushes aside Selena Gomez to rule Instagram. The "Thank U, Next" hitmaker has officially dethroned the "Wolves" songstress to become the most followed woman on the photo-sharing platform with a narrow gap.

As of press time, the former Nickelodeon star has 146,337,175 followers, while the Disney alum follows close behind with 146,284,833 followers. According to Billboard, Ariana added 13 million people to her follower list over the last four months, likely fueled by the release of her latest album "Thank U, Next" earlier this month and her whirlwind romance with Pete Davidson which ended last October.

The achievement is not surprising, since Ariana has maintained a constant presence on Instagram, whereas Selena took a break from the social media site whenever she wanted to focus on her health issues.

Back in September, the 26-year-old actress/singer wrote, "Taking a social media break. Again. As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given. Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody's feelings. Obvi."

She recently returned to Instagram after completing her treatment at a mental health facility following a breakdown due to her hospitalizations.

Cristiano Ronaldo is still the most-followed person on Instagram, the title which Selena relinquished to the soccer player in October. To steal the throne from the athlete, Ariana has a lot to catch up as the Juventus star now has more than 155 million followers.

Ariana has not commented on being the new Instagram queen. She, instead, took to Twitter on Monday to announce that she's going to return to Manchester for a show, two years a tragic attack at the Manchester Arena during her concert.
