Director Barry Jenkins' "If Beale Street Could Talk" was the big winner at the 34th Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday, February 23.
The filmmaker's adaptation of James Baldwin's tale landed Best Feature, Best Director, and Best Supporting Female for Regina King at the traditional Oscars eve ceremony.
King is now a lock to take home gold at the Academy Awards on Sunday, bar a total surprise.
Meanwhile, Boots Riley scored the Best First Feature for his comedy Sorry To Bother You and Glenn Close more or less cemented her first Oscar by picking up the Female Lead honour for her role in The Wife.
