With the success of the 2017 musical film, director Michael Gracey says that 'it's only natural there is demand for a sequel.'

AceShowbiz - When Hugh Jackman and director Michael Gracey made "The Greatest Showman", they probably didn't think about making a sequel. But with the warm reception from audience, they have been tempted to continue the success by making a continuation to P. T. Barnum's story.
Met in London to support the Australian actor who opened the 2019 BRIT Awards with a musical performance as the circus legend earlier this week, Gracey revealed there has been plan to make the sequel to the 2017 musical film. "Those discussions have started and we are working on one right now," he told The Sun.
While details of the planned sequel are currently unavailable, Gracey explained that their decision to continue on the big-screen depiction of Barnum's life is to please the fans. He said, "When a movie becomes as big a success as this, it's only natural there is demand for a sequel."
Speaking to the news outlet, Gracey also opened up about his eight years of struggle to get "The Greatest Showman" made. "There were huge doubts about it for a very long time and some backers withdrew their money," he admitted.
A Hollywood source additionally chimed in, "The critics hated it and it was predicted to be a massive flop. But then people power took over and there hasn't been a box office sensation like it in years."
While Jackman is expected to reprise his role as P. T. Barnum, nothing is set in stone at the moment.
In other news, Jackman has been celebrating his new feat after entering the Guiness Book of World Records alongside his "X-Men" co-star Patrick Stewart for "the longest career as a live action Marvel superhero." Jackman portrayed Wolverine while Steward played Charles Xavier since 2000 in "X-Men" until 2017 with "Logan".

Taking this to Twitter, the 50-year-old hunk was trolled by his frenemy Ryan Reynolds as the "Deadpool" star replied to Jackman's tweet, "For fingernail length?" Jackman has not responded to Reynolds' comment, but it's obvious that their fake social media feud is back on.
