Shedding tears, the 'Hidden Figures' actress credits her success to her grandmother, mother and son during the speech.

AceShowbiz - Taraji P. Henson is the latest celebrity to have her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The "Empire" star was honored with the coveted star on Monday, January 28 in the ceremony which was attended with her loved ones.

During her speech, the 48-year-old actress couldn't hold her tears back as she talked about her grandmother Patsy Ballard. Taraji, who looked stunning at the ceremony in a red dress, revealed that she dedicated the accolade to her grandmother, mother and son who all came to celebrate the big day.

"Everything I do, I work so hard to make them proud," she said as she began to tear up. "I know she never thought that she would live to see this. And grandma I hope that you are so proud because this is your legacy."

"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" star went on sharing the difficult times she used to have when she was young. She told the crowd that she once caught her mom Bernice crying over bills. "And I made a promise I said, 'Ma don't you to cry no more. I'm going to be rich one day and I'm going to be famous and I'm going to take care of you,' " she revealed. "So I had a lot to live up to, because you know, I said it so I had to do it."

Taraji also credited her son Marcell Johnson for his success. "I just made a promise to him, I said 'I'm never going to give up, I know things are going to be hard,' " she shared. "When you love that deep and you make promises, you have to keep them."

The couple flaunted PDA during photo sessions as they shared a kiss and snuggled to each other in front of cameras. John Singleton and Mary J. Blige were also there to take the podium to sing Taraji praises.
