Edgar Wright, who directed the 2017 heist movie, confirms that he has finished the first draft of a script for the sequel.

AceShowbiz - Edgar Wright is developing a sequel to his hit movie "Baby Driver".
The filmmaker was previously asked by movie bosses to consider making a follow up to his 2017 movie, which starred Ansel Elgort as a getaway driver for a ring of criminals led by Kevin Spacey's character Doc, and now he reveals he has finished the "first draft" of a script for the sequel.
"A first draft of 'Baby Driver 2' exists," he tells Empire magazine. "(It) takes the story further."
"Most sequels you have to contrive something so they go back to square one, unless there's somewhere deeper for them to go," he previously told the publication. "I think with 'Baby Driver' there's more that you can do in that realm, and I sort of have an idea that if you did another (film) you would subvert his involvement in the crime in a different way so he's not the apprentice anymore."
It is unclear when Wright will be ready to put the movie into production as his next project is a psychological thriller based in London. The movie has been co-written by Krysty Wilson-Cairns and will film this summer (2019). Edgar explains he was eager to make the movie because it will be set in a city, in which the English director has spent a significant amount of time.
"I realised I had never made a film about central London - specifically Soho, somewhere I've spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years," he says. "With 'Hot Fuzz' and 'Shaun of the Dead' you make movies about places you've lived in. This movie is about the London I've existed in."
