The feature film category features the same nominees who were competing at the recent Golden Globe Awards, as Cooper is also up for a DGA Award for a first-time director.

AceShowbiz - Following the 2019 Golden Globe Awards, the Directors Guild of America Awards is continuing the race in the directing category by announcing the nominations for its own annual award show. Among the honorees for the 2019 DGA Awards is Bradley Cooper, who nabs two nominations.
The "A Star Is Born" director, who is also starring in the musical drama film, is up for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film. He will once again face a tough competition, as the category features the same nominees who were nominated at the recent Golden Globes. The other nominees are 2019 Golden Globe winner Alfonso Cuaron ("Roma"), Peter Farrelly ("Green Book"), Spike Lee ("BlacKkKlansman") and Adam McKay ("Vice (2018)").
Cooper, who made his feature film directorial debut with the Lady GaGa-starring pic, is also in contention to win an award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement of a First-Time Feature Film. He is up against Bo Burnham ("Eighth Grade"), Carlos Lopez Estrada ("Blindspotting"), Matthew Heineman ("A Private War") and Boots Riley ("Sorry to Bother You") for the prize.
The DGA Awards will be also handing out awards for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary and Lifetime Achievement in Television to Don Mischer. The awards will be presented on Saturday, February 2, at Hollywood & Highland Center's Ray Dolby Ballroom.
The DGA Awards has often become a reference to Academy Award nominations in directing category. Last year's Oscar nominees Jordan Peele ("Get Out"), Greta Gerwig ("Lady Bird"), Christopher Nolan ("Dunkirk") and 2018 Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro ("The Shape of Water") were nominated at the DGA Awards. "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" director Martin McDonagh, however, wasn't nominated for Oscar as "Phantom Thread" helmer Paul Thomas Anderson nabbed the spot instead.
