Shortly after news broke out that he has been driving for Uber since 2016, the former co-host of the singing competition series takes to Twitter to share his side of the story.

AceShowbiz - Brian Dunkleman has caught the headlines for his current occupation. Sixteen years after serving as a co-host on the inaugural season of "American Idol", the 47-year-old was unraveled to be making a living as an Uber driver. Still, he has a perfectly good reason for his interesting choice of work.

On Thursday, January 3, the comedian took to his Twitter account in response to TMZ's revelation about his recent job. "I chose to stop doing standup comedy and started driving an Uber so I could be there for my son as much as he needed after our life as we knew it was destroyed," he clarified. "Print that. @TMZ @HarveyLevinTMZ."

Earlier in the same day, TMZ brought up a report that Brian listed Uber driver in the financial paperwork he submitted for his divorce from Kalea Dunkleman. According to the site, the stand-up comedian has been driving for Uber since March 2016, and makes around $800 a week. To which, he responded on Twitter, "And I make over a grand on a good week motherf**kers."

TMZ also claimed that Brian has $2,000 in his checking account, and managed to save roughly $95 each month because he has to pay a $1,500 rent and spent approximately $1,605 in expenses each month.

Brian and Kaela's divorce proceedings has been ongoing since 2016.They battled over the custody of their 5-year-old son Jackson, because of which they accused each other of abuse as well as child stealing. In his part, Brian claimed that Kalea is an alcoholic abuser who would physically threaten him and their son. He also accused Kalea of punching him in the face while drunk.

On the other hand, Kalea insisted that it was Brian who abused her. When asking a judge for an order to return Jackson, she reportedly said that Brian once threw her against the wall in front of their son and would call her derogatory names. While she admitted to having drinking issues, she insisted that it was in the past.
