In a new interview, Rob Liefeld reveals he remains optimistic that an animated series centering on the anti-hero may still be in the cards after one Marvel executive's tease.

AceShowbiz - Fans were left devastated after Donald Glover announced that his planned animated series centering on Deadpool fell apart due to creative differences with FX. However, it seems fans of the Merc with a Mouth can still hope for another animated series of the Marvel Comics character as Deadpool co-creator hints that Deadpool cartoon isn't dead yet.
Talking to Nerdist, Rob Liefeld says that he himself wants to see an animated Deadpool series. "When that Donald Glover news broke, and maybe unlike the rest of you, sometimes I look at my phone when I'm driving, which I shouldn't, on the freeway and I may have swerved. Like, woah! When that went south, that was very, like, unfortunate," he tells the site.
However, Liefeld remains optimistic that an animated series centering on the fan-favorite anti-hero may still be coming to the small screen. "I think for all. But, I will not say who, but a Marvel executive did say, 'Don't worry, Robert, we're going to give you a Deadpool cartoon. It's still going to happen,' " he reveals.
"Let me tell you that I have no inside information," Liefeld notes. "I just know that look, Marvel is doing a great job of taking over the world right?"
Back in March, fans' hope of a Deadpool animated series was crushed after FX canceled a 10-episode planned Deadpool cartoon which was created by Donald and Stephen Clover. "Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel’s Deadpool animated series," FX said in a statement. "FX will no longer be involved with the project. FX and Marvel have an ongoing relationship through our partnership on 'Legion', which will continue."
The "Atlanta" creator/executive producer/star later took to Twitter to share a spoof script of the canned series in which he slammed the network. "For the record: I wasn't too busy to work on Deadpool," he wrote in a now-deleted post. In the 12-page faux script, Deadpool told Sudan, "You know, I'm not mad about this whole 'cancelled' thing. I actually think it's a good time to have a violent, gun loving white man ranting on TV? Other than the PRESIDENT!" The titular character later wonders whether "they just wanna sell toys" or they "cancelled the show… 'cause of racism?!"
