'All I want for Christmas Is You' breaks a one-day streaming record on Spotify after it's played 10.8 million times within one day.

AceShowbiz - Mariah Carey's Christmas classic "All I Want for Christmas Is You" will never get too old to listen to. Decades after its initial release in 1994, the popular holiday song has just broken a one-day streaming record on Spotify.

Chart Data reported that "All I Want for Christmas Is You" was played 10.8 million times on Monday, December 24 on the streaming service. That was more than the 10.4 million times listeners who streamed XXXTENTACION's "Sad!" on June 19, the day after he was killed. A spokesperson for Spotify refused to comment on the matter.

Despite the music streaming site's refusal to address, it didn't seem to stop Mimi from getting elated about the news, though she couldn't seem to believe it at first. Responding to a tweet which reported the news, the New York-born diva simply tweeted, "Wait... What?!" She later called the new feat "such an amazing Christmas gift" in an Instagram post.

"All I Want for Christmas Is You" was first unveiled on November 1, 1994 as the lead single from her fourth studio album and first holiday album "Merry Christmas". It has become established as a Christmas standard and continues to surge in popularity each holiday season. Every December from 2005 to 2008, the song topped Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

In addition to that, it became the first holiday song to be certified double-platinum by RIAA and the overall best-selling holiday digital single. Reported to have earned $60 million in royalties, "All I Want for Christmas Is You" remains Mimi's biggest international success and is the 11th best-selling single of all time.

Due to the mass popularity of the song, it gets a slew of remixes from other musicians and Mimi herself. The most notable one was Justin Bieber's version of the song, which is a duet with the songstress, off his holiday album "Under the Mistletoe".
