AceShowbiz - Disney Plus' "Star Wars" TV series "The Mandalorian" has been secretive about the plot, but that doesn't stop fans from getting unofficial sneak peeks at the upcoming series. A new set video has found its way out online, revealing some story details from the season finale.
Coming via Making Star Wars, the video, which was taken at the filming location in Southern California, saw director Taika Waititi ("Thor: Ragnarok") directing a scene. Joining him on the set were writer/showrunner Jon Favreau and fellow director Dave Filoni. They were seen rehearsing an action scene with several actors.
Two of the actors were clad in Stormtrooper gear though they didn't wear the helmets. Meanwhile, two other actors are dressed as characters who've reportedly been seen working in other scenes. Also spotted in the video was an actor sporting partial Mandalorian armor.
Judging by the leaked video, fans assume that the season finale of the forthcoming prequel TV series is about the Mandalorian taking on on remnants of the Empire. As for the reason, it remains to be seen.
Fans' theory suggest that the Mandalorian may be trying to rescue someone or someone has hired them to do so. Either way, it shouldn't be too surprising to see them fighting the Empire since it's their nature as bounty hunters, gunfighters and mercenaries.
The video arrives after set photos of the series emerged online. The photos revealed the link between "The Mandalorian" and 2016's "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story". The pics featured some actors in Death Troopers outfit. In "Rogue One", the Death Troopers were depicted as an elite squadron who served the Empire. They subsequently appeared on the animated "Star Wars Rebels".
However, Making Star Wars noted that it could be Imperial Officer since it's hard to identify when the actors weren't totally geared up.
"The Mandalorian" reportedly added Pedro Pascal and Gina Carano to its cast. While the "Game of Thrones" alum is allegedly set to play a leading character, the "Deadpool" star's character is still kept under wraps.
"The Mandalorian" is set after "the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. 'The Mandalorian' is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic."
Favreau will executive produce "The Mandalorian" alongside Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson, while Karen Gilchrist will serve as co-executive producer.
"The Mandalorian" is set to stream on Disney's streaming service, which is set to launch in late 2019.
