AceShowbiz - Idris Elba has been named the Sexiest Man Alive for 2018, replacing Blake Shelton. PEOPLE announced it through "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on Monday, November 5, and the British actor was just as excited as his fans were.
"Congratulations on being the Sexiest Man Alive," host Jimmy Fallon said, to which Elba replied gleefully, "It's amazing! I'm really, really happy with that. Thank you so much PEOPLE magazine for making me sexiest man in the world. My mom is going to be very, very proud."
The "Luther" actor also expressed his gratefulness on Twitter, writing, "Who'd have thought it! Thank you @people & all the fans for naming me @SexiestManAlive. ...I'm honoured & thankful. What's even more important is your vote in the midterm elections. Your vote can make a difference!"

In the cover story of the magazine, Elba admitted that he couldn't believe he was honored with the coveted title, because he never thought that he'd be sexy enough to be named the Sexiest Man Alive. "I was like, 'Come on, no way. Really?' " he recalled. "Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, 'Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.' But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise - an ego boost for sure."
Unlike last year when many disagreed of Blake getting the title, this time fans were more than ecstatic as many thought it was about time for Elba to be named the Sexiest Man Alive. "Finally got it right this year!" one Instagram comment read. "Yes! Now this is what I'm talking about!" another satisfied fans said.
