The visuals is basically a recreation of Bill Murray and Scarlet Johansson-starring movie 'Lost in Translation'.

AceShowbiz - Back in September, Shawn Mendes teamed up with Zedd to release a remix of his single "Lost in Japan" which is included on his self-titled album. Now, the Canadian heartthrob has treated fans to a music video for the song.

Released on October 26, the visuals is basically a recreation of Oscar-winning movie "Lost in Translation". It features Shawn as Bill Murray's Bob Harris traveling to Tokyo, Japan to film an advertisement for a whiskey brand. Once he arrives in his hotel, he meets Alisha Roe, who plays Scarlett Johansson's Charlotte and falls in love with her at first sight.

There are so many scenes in the music video that look almost exactly the same as the movie. For instance, Alisha is seen in one take attending a party in a pink bobbed wig and black scoop neck T-shirt and singing karaoke. Shawn also wears the exact yellow T-shirt with black armbands that Bob Harris sports in the movie. But instead of singing Elvis Costello's "Peace, Love and Understanding", the Ontario native belts out his own song.

The end of the video takes viewers back to the where Shawn and Alisha meet for the first time, in the elevator. As Alisha is getting off the elevator, Shawn seems hesitant to follow her. He only starts chasing after he after being encouraged by a stranger.

The original version of "Lost in Japan" was released on March 23. Speaking to Billboard, Shawn shared that the song was inspired by all of the Justin Timberlake songs he was listening to during the writing process. "I had this dream that I was lost in this country and I woke up the next day and we had this cool piano part and the song was birthed," he said.

Shawn is currently preparing to hit the road in support of his latest album "Shawn Mendes".
