AceShowbiz - The ladies at Litchfield are about to bid farewells. Netflix has announced that the upcoming seventh season of "Orange Is the New Black" will be its last.
"After seven seasons, it's time to be released from prison. I will miss all the badass ladies of Litchfield and the incredible crew we've worked with. My heart is orange but fade to black," creator Jenji Kohan stated in a statement on Wednesday, October 17.
In the wake of the announcement, a slew of the show's stars took to social media to reflect on the series's run as well as thanked the writers and fans. Among them was Danielle Brooks, who tweeted, "Time moves so quickly. We're at the end of the road. This show has been apart of my life for 7 yrs!" Alongside a video featuring her co-stars, she continued writing, "I've been given the chance to stretch myself as an actress, further my reach as an activist, and have become a more confident woman because of this show. I am forever grateful."

As for the show's loyal fans, she wrote, "you all are the most LOYAL, LOVING fans a girl could EVER ask for. You all have held me up when I wanted to give up. When I felt invisible, you saw me. When I felt less than, you encouraged me. Thank you! P.S. It's always been for you."
To the Orange fans, from far and wide... you all are the most LOYAL, LOVING fans a girl could EVER ask for. You all have held me up when I wanted to give up. When I felt invisible, you saw me. When I felt less than, you encouraged me. Thank you! P.S. Itβs always been for you πDB

Piper Chapman depicter Taylor Schilling revealed that she and co-star Laura Prepon were both already preparing for the end of the show. "As an actor getting ready to say goodbye to a role that I've lived with for six years, itβs very poignant," Schilling said to The Hollywood Reporter. "It's a very kind of surreal time. It's as surreal as it was when the thing came out of the gate and was so powerful those first few seasons. It's equally as surreal now to be ending it all."
"The endgame is there. As of now, season seven is our last season. So, the endgame is clear. ... I don't know if I can say that I'm prepared for the end, but I've been doing this for a long time and I know that there's always going to be more after that," Prepon added. "It will just be different. Orange is its own special thing, just like 'That '70s Show' was, and I'm so happy that I get to be a part of it."
The seventh and final season of the Lionsgate-produced series is slated to arrive in 2019.
