AceShowbiz - Chance The Rapper has pledged to donate $1 million (£766,000) to mental health services in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois.

The "No Problem" hitmaker made the announcement during the second annual summit for his nonprofit organisation SocialWorks on Thursday, October 04, telling attendees that six different mental wellness providers would receive grants of $100,000 (£76,600) each to begin with.

"With the help of SocialWorks, we want to change the way that mental health resources are being accessed by you," he said, according to Billboard.com.

His organisation also announced a new initiative called "My State of Mind" which will focus on improving mental health resources within Cook County, Illinois. As part of the drive, a guidebook will be published both physically and digitally to help people find the right resources for them.

"We need a new space to get information on how they feel and where they can go," Chance said.

Last year, the rapper, real name Chancelor Bennett, donated $1 million to public schools in Chicago and created the "New Chance Arts and Literature Fund", which helps "bring arts programmes and materials to schools".

At the summit on Thursday, the rapper announced the New Chance fund would be extended for another year and would be distributing $2 million (£1.5 million) between another 20 schools, with the help of companies like Google.
