AceShowbiz - Another work from Image Comics is about to make a small screen debut. Universal Cable Productions is reportedly working an TV adaptation of Image Comics' comic book series "Ice Cream Man", which debuted in January.

Max and Adam Reid ("Sneaky Pete") have been attached as the writers for the pilot as well as serve as executive producers. Joining them as executive producers for the project are Chris Bender, Jake Weiner and Jake Wagner of Good Fear Films.

Based on W. Maxwell Prince's comics, the planned series is a horror-fantasy anthology series presented by its omnipresent narrator, the Ice Cream Man. He will be weaving a dark tapestry of tales from his truck while peeling back the layers of the suburban American psyche with stories that always end with a macabre twist.

Universal Cable Productions plans to shop the project to premium cable and streaming services. While the project is still in early stages, fans of the comics can catch the next Issue #8 on Halloween (October 31).

Prince was previously nominated for an Eisner Award for his original graphic novel One Week in the Library. His other works include IDW Publishing series "The Electric Sublime", in which he's teaming up with Argentine illustrator Morazzo.

This arrives after UCP-produced "Happy!", which was based on New York Times best-selling author Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson's graphic novel from Image, earned critical acclaim. The series follows Nick Sax (Christopher Meloni, "Law & Order: SVU") -- an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hit man – who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit gone wrong, his inebriated life is forever changed by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue winged horse named Happy (Patton Oswalt).
