The announcement arrives after it was rumored in August that the netwok was working on a revival of the series.

"Veronica Mars" aired on UPN and the CW between 2004 and 2007. Set in the fictional town of Neptune, California, the original drama followed a teen sleuth and student who moonlit as a private investigator under the tutelage of her detective father (Enrico Colantoni). Each episode sees Veronica solving a different stand-alone case while working to solve a more complex mystery.

The first two seasons aired on UPN before moving to The CW for another season. It was later followed by a fan-funded movie sequel in 2014 after Bell and Thomas launched a campaign to raise money through Kickstarter. In no time, the two raised $3.7 million. The flick featured Bell and a number of other original cast members.
