The rock band and the popular video game ask fans to help support the Tyler Robinson Foundation (TRF).

AceShowbiz - Imagine Dragons have teamed up with video game Angry Birds to raise money for their cancer charity.

Joining forces with Angry Bird Match, which is downloaded as an app, Las Vegas rockers Dan Reynolds, Wayne Sermon, Ben McKee and Daniel Platzman are asking their fans to help support the Tyler Robinson Foundation (TRF), the non-profit organisation they set up in honour of their late fan Tyler Robinson, which helps families affected by pediatric cancer.

"These kids and their families should never have to suffer financial despair when they're already battling cancer together, and it's an honour to help them out any way we can," the band said in a statement. "We jumped at the chance to join with Angry Birds to bring more awareness and support to TRF and these kids."

Those who have Angry Bird Match will be able to play at a new in-game event from Wednesday, September 04 – a Las Vegas Concert Arena, where the Hatchlings (baby Angry Birds) will take on challenges to prepare for "the biggest concert ever". The band's track Natural also features.

Although in-app fundraising won't be allowed, gamers can click through to the TRF campaign page and donate if they wish.

"What is to be expected, we hope, is to raise as much awareness and money as possible for these families who have a child with cancer," frontman Dan said.

September marks Childhood Cancer Awareness month.
