The 'Ice Ice Baby' hitmaker was on a plane which more than 100 passengers caught a potentially deadly virus on board.

AceShowbiz - Rapper and reality TV star Vanilla Ice's first class status saved him from a potentially deadly virus on-board a plane bound for New York on Wednesday, September 05.

The Ice Ice Baby hitmaker was among the 500-plus passengers caught up in a major health scare as the Emirates Flight 203 from Dubai landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

More than 100 passengers flying economy were quarantined, while 10 were hospitalised, after falling ill during the flight.

The rapper tweeted pictures of the emergency vehicles lined up on the runway from his window seat and wrote the caption: "So I just landed from Dubai and now there is like tons of ambulances and fire trucks and police all over the place".

He quickly discovered what was going on and added: "This is crazy. Apparently there is over 100 people sick on the bottom floor, so happy I'm up top, it's a double-decker plane 380".

A representative for the New York City Mayor's Office has confirmed all passengers had been evaluated a few hours after landing and health officials were "processing tests to determine the cause" of the in-flight sickness.

Reports suggest symptoms point to the flu.
