AceShowbiz - TV mogul Ryan Murphy called on his friendship with Madonna to secure pop classics for his new show Pose.

The series, which explores life and society in New York in the late 1980s, features a treasure trove of hits from artists like Tina Turner, Grace Jones, and Madonna, who all usually say no to requests for the use of their songs - but Murphy had special help.

The Glee and American Horror Story creator turned to Madonna, and when she agreed to let him use her music, he was able to snag the others.

"I think, because of the subject matter, we were lucky enough to get those songs," he tells WENN. "We beg, borrow and steal. I have a good relationship with Madonna, thus far. She was lovely enough, this season, to give us a couple of her tracks."

But Ryan doubts he'll be able to persuade the Queen of Pop to appear on the show.

"I think the thing I love about this show so far is we haven't tried to do so much of my stunt casting, and I don't think that we will," he adds. "I think that's not what the show is about. But, I always love to talk to Madonna; I don't know how she would feel about playing 1990 Madonna."
