'Sam Smith will never be able to walk on his two legs after MJ fans rip his a** apart,' one of the late King of Pop's fans responded to the 'Lay Me Down' hitmaker's opinion.

AceShowbiz - Sam Smith has landed in hot water after he stated his opinion about Michael Jackson. The "Lay Me Down" singer apparently is not a fan of the late King of Pop as he implied so during a boat ride with fellow singer Adam Lambert. The "American Idol" alum accidentally recorded a video of their conversation and posted it on Instagram on August 9.

The now-deleted video saw the two singers relaxing on the boat, while Michael's "Human Nature" could be heard playing in the background. Wearing a colorful stripped T-shirt and sunglasses, Sam casually said, "I don't like Michael Jackson, but this is a good song." Adam didn't respond to Sam's opinion as he cut the video off.

Someone then reposted the video on Twitter. Not too long after that, fans of the late King of Pop reacted to the post, slamming the British singer for his opinion. "I strongly doubt he's listened to Michael's full discography or even all of Thriller..only a fool wouldn't like the king of pop after that," one fan wrote. "Well I don't like Sam Smith!" another one added with an angry emoji.

"I don't like Sam Smith and I don't think he has any good songs. I also think his career is tanking since he lost the weight," one person mocked the Grammy Award winner. "Sam Smith will never be able to walk on his two legs after MJ fans rip his a** apart. Man..I wish i could help...," another fan said.

Michael's fans were not the only ones who slammed Sam as Stephanie Mills also did the same. Taking to her Instagram account, Stephanie posted a screenshot of news about Sam's opinion and criticized the "Too Good at Goodbyes" singer in the caption.

"@Samsmithworld Don't come for MICHAEL JACKSON when you wish you have sold as many records and you wish you were the King of Pop like he was. I'm so tired of you people studying our music, and studying our artist and claiming that you don’t like our music," the 61-year-old songstress said. "Go sit your 1 HIT WONDER a** down and learn how to finish a tour. When you can sell as many records as the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, then maybe you can say something. So I say to you Mr. Smith have several seats and come for me if you want to."

Both Sam and Adam have yet to release any statement regarding the backlash.
