Clinton is not the only special guest star for the new season, as she will be joined by former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Gen. Colin Powell.

AceShowbiz - It's finally happening! Former Secretary of State and 2016 presidential candidate Hilary Clinton has been tapped to make a guest appearance in the upcoming season 5 premiere of CBS drama "Madam Secretary".

Clinton is not the only special guest star for the new season, as she will be joined by former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Gen. Colin Powell. They will be playing themselves in the premiere.

"Madam Secretary" announced the exciting news on Twitter on Tuesday, July 24. "We've got some BIG guest stars in store for Season 5! Former Secretaries of State @HillaryClinton, @Madeleine, and Colin Powell will be appearing on the season premiere of #MadamSecretary on Sunday, October 7!" the account wrote alongside a photo of Clinton, Albight, Powell and the show's star Tea Leoni.

"Having three powerhouses of diplomacy agree to come on our show is awe-inspiring and humbling. And that we were able to find a time in their busy schedules when they were all available is a miracle," executive producer Lori McCreary said in a statement.

While it will be the first time for Clinton to guest star on the show, it's not the case for Albright. She once appeared in a 2015 episode of the series.

The upcoming season is expected to feature a big moment for Leoni's Secretary of State character Elizabeth McCord as she revealed her plans to run for president at the end of season 4. According to EP and creator Barbara Hall, season 5 will be "about the State Department, because she still has her job. But we will pull back the curtain on what the process is, once someone decides to run. We really like to reveal process on this show, so we'll will start the research and do stories about what she discovers along the way."

Season 5 of "Madam Secretary" is slated to premiere on Sunday, October 7 on CBS.
