The 'Call Me by Your Name' star is reportedly tapped to play young nobleman Paul Atreides.

AceShowbiz - Timothee Chalamet is reportedly in final talks to lead the cast of director Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" revamp.

Bosses at Legendary acquired the film and TV rights to Frank Herbert's novels in 2016, and "Blade Runner 2049" filmmaker Villeneuve jumped on board.

Now, Deadline sources claim "Call Me By Your Name" star Chalamet is close to signing on as Paul Atreidis, the character a young Kyle MacLachlan played in the cult David Lynch-directed 1984 film.

Herbert's epic sci-fi novels, which were first published in 1965, the "Dune' story revolves around the battle for a drug called Melange, which offers users heightened consciousness and an extended lifespan, while making interstellar travel possible.

Lynch's 1984 adaptation was plagued with financial problems and battles with his producers, and Villeneuve will be hoping his revamp will be a lot less stressful.

Chalamet is a hot property in Hollywood at the moment following roles in Luca Guadagnino's "Call Me By Your Name", "Lady Bird", "Hostiles", and new film "Beautiful Boy". He's also set to be part of the Call Me By Your Name sequel and he signed on to play Henry V in "The King".

Meanwhile, Villeneuve turned down the chance to return to the Blade Runner universe and the new "James Bond" movie to tackle "Dune", which was also turned into a cult 2000 TV mini-series, starring William Hurt, Alec Newman, and Saskia Reeves.

Talking about his decision to say no to 007 boss Barbara Broccoli, the moviemaker told ScreenDaily.com, "I said to Barbara, 'I would love to work with you and with Daniel (Craig), but I'm engaged...' I'm a spoiled filmmaker right now. I think Daniel Craig is a fantastic actor and I would like to (work with him), but several months ago I came in to do 'Dune', and I engaged myself. I committed myself and I'm someone that doesn't step back."
