Sources, however, claim that the Maggie Greene depicter will only appear in 'a limited capacity' in the upcoming new season.

AceShowbiz - After a long speculation whether or not Lauren Cohan will return to "The Walking Dead" season 9, it has been confirmed that the Maggie Greene depicter will indeed reprise her role in the upcoming season. The actress shared the news at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday night, April 24.

"I'm going back," Cohan said at the event, where she was promoting her new movie "Mile 22". "There's a lot more Maggie story to tell."

When asked what to expect from her character, the actress refused to give away. "You know we're not allowed to tell you anything," she said, before went on teasing, "It's good."

While it's good news to see Cohan returning, it seems like her character will only appear in a limited capacity. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Cohan's Maggie will appear in six of the first eight episodes of the first half of season 9. More details of her stints are still kept under wraps.

Maggie was last seen in season 8, vowing to take revenge for Glenn's death and conspiring with Jesus and Daryl to kill Negan unbeknownst to Rick and Michonne.

It was previously rumored that while most of "The Walking Dead" cast had signed on for season 9 of the hit AMC's series, Cohan was rumored to be still in negotiations to get a better salary. AMC allegedly didn't give the numbers Cohan desired, sparking rumors of Cohan exiting the zombie apocalyptic series. Further fuelling the rumors, Cohan was tapped to star in ABC drama pilot titled "Whiskey Cavalier".

In the pilot, Cohan will play CIA operative Francesca "Frankie" Trowbridge (whose codename is Fiery Tribune). She is set to star alongside Scott Foley, whose FBI agent character, Will Chase a.k.a. Whiskey Cavalier, will work with Cohan's Frankie.

It is unclear how Cohan will balance her schedule between the two projects, not to mention that "The Walking Dead" is slated to start filming next week. However, since "Whiskey Cavalier" hasn't picked up to a series by ABC, it seems like Cohan won't find any major scheduling issue.
