The rep for the "Daddy's Home" actor releases a statement which reads, "While traveling back to Los Angeles after hosting a voter registration event in San Diego, a car carrying Will Ferrell and three of his colleagues was struck on the freeway by another vehicle."

"Will and his colleague, Andrew Steele, were unhurt and have been released from an Orange County hospital," adds the rep. Meanwhile, driver Mark Thomson and another colleague Carolina Barlow are still hospitalized but are in stable condition.

"Will is staying close by as his friends are being treated, and has expressed his deep gratitude to the first responders who were immediately at the scene and to the hospital team that took such great care of them," the rep continues. "He's also grateful for all the well wishes he and his friends are receiving."

According to TMZ, the accident occurred around 11 P.M. Law enforcement sources revealed that their vehicle was sideswiped from the right rear by a Toyota, causing the SUV to spin and flip over.

They said drugs and alcohol didn't play a role in the accident. While the police continue investigating the accident, no arrest has been made. The "Get Hard" actor's manager told Deadline that the Toyota's driver had fallen asleep at the wheel.

It was reported that the 50-year-old "The Campaign" actor was on his way back from a voter registration event which was held by Funny or Die, a comedy video website and production company founfed by him. He reprised his "Anchorman" character Ron Burgundy at the event.
