Celebrity

'I'd love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain't that dumb!' Rihanna writes on Instagram Stories, while Brown's attorney says, 'Whoever posted this at Snapchat needs to be slapped.'

AceShowbiz - Rihanna and Chris Brown didn't stay quiet after Snapchat approved a controversial ad that made light of domestic violence. Earlier this week, the app ran an ad for a mobile game called "Would You Rather!" The ad showed photos of the former couple and asked users if they'd rather "slap Rihanna" or "punch Chris Brown."

Brown was infamously arrested for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. After the ad drew backlash online, Snapchat pulled the ad and apologized. They said in a statement on Monday, "The ad was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines. We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware. We are sorry that this happened."

Now, both stars have reacted to the ad. Rihanna took to Instagram Stories to write, "Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain't my fav app out there! But I'm just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess! I'd love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain't that dumb!"

She continued, "You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke out of it!!! This isn't about my personal feelings, cause I don't have much of them ... but all the women, children and men that have been victims of DV in the past and especially the ones who haven't made it out yet ... you let us down! Shame on you. Throw the whole app-oligy away."

Meanwhile, Brown's attorney Mark Geragos told E! News, "Whoever posted this at Snapchat needs to be slapped."

In a statement released to E! News on Thursday, March 15, a spokesperson for Snap Inc., maker of Snapchat, once again apologized for the ad. "This advertisement is disgusting and never should have appeared on our service. We are so sorry we made the terrible mistake of allowing it through our review process," the spokesperson said. "We are investigating how that happened so that we can make sure it never happens again."

According to the group, the ad was unaffiliated with Snapchat and Snap Inc. The advertiser has since been blocked from the platform. The mobile game manufacturer has not responded to the controversy.

In related news, after Rihanna and Chris Brown criticized Snapchat, the shares in Snap Inc. tumbled over the course of the day. According to Forbes, the company stock closed at $17.20 on Thursday, down nearly 4|percent| for the day.
