AceShowbiz - A judge has ruled that the criminal proceedings against the woman accused of firing shots at Rihanna’s Los Angeles residence will continue, rejecting concerns raised about her mental competency to face trial.

On Wednesday, Ivanna Ortiz appeared before Los Angeles County Superior Court, where her defense attorney expressed doubts about the 35-year-old’s ability to participate in her defense. After a private hearing, Judge Shannon Cooley found insufficient evidence to pause the case, which originates from a shooting incident on March 8 at Rihanna’s Beverly Crest property.

Ortiz has entered a plea of not guilty to charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. Prosecutors claim she discharged multiple rounds that struck Rihanna’s home, a nearby house, and an Airstream trailer parked on the property. Court documents reveal that Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were inside the trailer when the shooting occurred, though thankfully, no injuries were reported.

According to a police report, Rihanna heard “approximately ten loud sounds like something banging on metal” before waking Rocky and pulling him down to the floor. After the gunfire ceased, the couple checked on their children to ensure their safety.

Authorities apprehended Ortiz roughly an hour later in Sherman Oaks. At the time of her arrest, she was found in possession of a legally owned Springfield Armory rifle and two 30-round magazines. Earlier on the same day, Ortiz reportedly attempted to remove her attorney from the case and had disagreements regarding court scheduling.

This latest development means the case will proceed to trial, allowing the legal process to address the serious allegations involving the attempted attack on the celebrity’s home.
