Movie

Get a first look at the magical arrival of Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) and her reunion with the now-grown-up Jane and Michael Banks.

AceShowbiz - Mary Poppins is back in the first teaser trailer for "Mary Poppins Returns". Debuted during the live broadcast of the 90th annual Academy Awards on Sunday, March 4, the video hints at the wonder that will begin with the titular nanny's arrival.

The approximately one-and-a-half-minute clip opens with a look at a neighborhood in 1930s London. The sky is bleak and wind blows a kite which flies past Lin-Manuel Miranda's Jack as he rides his bike on the street.

A young boy chases the kite and two other children run around the park until Jack helps the young boy pull on the kite's string. As they look up to the sky, a silhouette of Mary Poppins is seen descending from among the clouds.

There's also a glimpse of the now-grown-up Jane and Michael Banks, who are both stunned and pleased with the return of Mary Poppins. Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure.

"Mary Poppins Returns" is set 25 years after the 1964 film and is drawn from the wealth of material in PL Travers' additional seven books. In the story, Michael (Ben Whishaw) and Jane (Emily Mortimer) are now grown up, with Michael, his three children and their housekeeper, Ellen (Julie Walters), living on Cherry Tree Lane.

After Michael suffers a personal loss, the enigmatic nanny Mary Poppins re-enters the lives of the Banks family, and, along with the optimistic street lamplighter Jack, uses her unique magical skills to help the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives. Mary Poppins also introduces the children to a new assortment of colorful and whimsical characters, including her eccentric cousin, Topsy (Meryl Streep).

Colin Firth stars as Fidelity Fiduciary Bank's William Weatherall Wilkins, Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and newcomer Joel Dawson play the three new Banks' children, Angela Lansbury is the Balloon Lady and Dick Van Dyke portrays Mr. Dawes Jr., the retired chairman of the bank now run by Firth's character.

Directed by Rob Marshall, the musical fantasy film is written by David Magee, with the music by Marc Shaiman and songs by Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Produced by John DeLuca, Marc E. Platt and Rob Marshall, it is set to arrive in U.S. theaters on Christmas Day, December 25, this year.
