Movie

The 'Greatest Showman' actor gets a shocking makeover with blond hair and partially shaven facial hair as he goes shirtless underneath a vest in one of the pictures.

AceShowbiz - Zac Efron causes fans to freak out with his transformation for his upcoming movie "The Beach Bum". Photos have surfaced online, giving first look at the 30-year-old actor in the drama comedy directed by Harmony Korine.

A far cry from his clean-cut look in "High School Musical" movies, the "Baywatch" star rocks wild dyed blond hair and thick facial hair with a designed shaved into the side of his face. He goes shirtless underneath a colorfully decorated jean vest and swim trunks which complement his eccentric look.

People have been gushing about Efron's shocking makeover for the movie. "I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS!" one Twitter user wrote. A fan commented, "Zac Efron's new look is interesting..." One other wrote, "NOT! READY! FOR! THIS! (still hot.)"

Another hilariously posted, "Why does Zac Efron look like a panini." Some other users compared Efron to a character in the video game "Street Fighter" and a grilled cheese sandwich with a mix of tattoo artist Ed Hardy. "zac efron looks like a furry im screaming SDKFJKLDSF," read another comment.

Written and directed by Korine who was the mastermind behind "Spring Breakers", "The Beach Bum" is about a "rebellious stoner named Moondog who lives life by his own rules." Matthew McConaughey is cast in the lead role, and Isla Fisher stars as his wife. Meanwhile, Efron plays a character called Flicker.

Other plot details are not available yet. Also starring in the movie are Bria Vinaite, Chad Mountain and Ricky Diaz. No release date is set for the film just yet, but it is expected to arrive sometime this year.

Efron is fresh off his role as Phillip Carlyle in "The Greatest Showman" (2017), a musical drama film inspired by the story of P. T. Barnum's creation of the Barnum & Bailey Circus which marks Michael Gracey's directorial debut. Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson (II) and Zendaya Coleman also star in it.

Efron has been filming "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile" in which he portrays serial killer and rapist Ted Bundy. The biopic is directed by Joe Berlinger with the script provided by Michael Werwie.
