AceShowbiz - Neon has unveiled first red band trailer for its upcoming comedy "The Beach Bum starring Matthew McConaughey as Moondog. The newly-released NSFW video introduces McConaughey's character, who is depicted as the rebellious charmer who is living his life by his own rules.
Set to "Crimson and Clover", the trailer of the Harmony Korine-directed flick opens with stoner Moondog, who sports long, blonde California beach locks. Moondog is the "Beach Bum" who spends his days hanging out by the water while indulging in drugs and alcohol.
He is trying to buy acid in a local convenience store. "That's too bad," he says when he learns that they don't have it. The footage then flashes a glimpse of Moondog's free lifestyle as he dances on the street, making out with some women and making poetry.
"Moondog, you look like s**t," says a character. Moondog, meanwhile, casually responds, "I look like I always look." The 1-minute video ends with Moondog saying his motto, to "suck the nectar" out of life.
Also glimpsed in the trailer are characters played by Snoop Dogg, Zac Efron, Isla Fisher, Martin Lawrence, Jonah Hill and Jimmy Buffett. Isla will be playing Minnie, Moondog's wife, while Snoop Dogg portrays a character named Lingerie. Zac plays Flicker while Jonah takes on the role of Lewis. Jimmy is set to play himself alongside Bertie Higgins.
"The Beach Bum" marks Korine's return since 2012's "Spring Breakers". The director previously described the movie as "a wild, audacious ride." Also written by Korine, the movie will be produced by John Lesher, Steve Golin, Charles-Marie Anthonioz, Mourad Belkeddar and Nicholas Lhermitte.
The comedy is set to premiere domestically on March 22, 2019.
