AceShowbiz - While fans are excited to know that The CW decided to move forward with its "Charmed" reboot, it appears that one of the classic series' stars doesn't share the same feeling. Holly Marie Combs, who portrayed Piper Halliwell on the series, took to her Twitter account to slam the upcoming reboot.
"Here's the thing. Until you ask us to rewrite it like Brad Kern did weekly don't even think of capitalizing on our hard work," the "Pretty Little Liars" star wrote.
The 44-year-old actress went on saying that " 'Charmed' belongs to the 4 of us, our vast amount of writers, crews and predominantly the fans." Seeming directed to the network, Combs added, "FYI you will not fool them by owning a title/stamp. So bye."

She continued saying in a separate tweet, "And another thing. Reboots or remakes, as we used to call them, usually have storylines so similar to the original that they are legally required to use the same title and buy the rights to that title." Unless the new reboot has the same storylines, "it's just another show," according to Combs. "A new show with a new title."

The ill will toward the new iteration seemingly dated back to 2006 when the network announced that it canceled "Charmed" despite the fact that the main actresses' contracts already ended so there was no show to cancel.
"Why would you [announce a cancellation]? … Kind of lame to dishonor something that's worked for them for so long," Rose McGowan said at the time. "I thought it was like one last annoying pissing contest."
"It's like, [serenely] 'Will & Grace' is coming to an end. And '7th Heaven' is ending its run. And yet 'Charmed' gets axed! The WB never treated us well, so we didn't expect a lot of farewell wishes and flowers or cards," Combs added.
The CW announced that it ordered a pilot for the reboot of the popular series on Thursday, January 25. The upcoming reboot was described as a "fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series." The official description of the forthcoming series also stated that it "centers on three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch's work is never done."
"Jane the Virgin" creator Jennie Urman is on board as executive producer. Meanwhile, "Jane the Virgin" writers Jessica O'Toole and Army Rardin are set to join Urman as executive producers in addition to writing the script. Brad Silberling, whose credits include "Jane the Virgin", "Dynasty", "No Tomorrow" and "Reign", will serve behind the lens.
