Camila Cabello Scores No. 1 on Billboard 200 With First Solo Album

The former Fifth Harmony member joins Beyonce, Gwen Stefani and Diana Ross as female artists to hit No. 1 solo on the chart after reaching the Billboard 200 as part of a group.

She has proved that she could make it big as a solo artist after leaving Fifth Harmony by posting a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with her first solo effort, "Camila", which sold 119,000 equivalent album units in the week ending January 18, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 65,000 were in traditional album sales.

"Camila", which was released on January 12, debuts atop the chart after a close race with "The Greatest Showman" soundtrack. The album exceeded expectation as some industry forecasters projected the set would begin with around 90,000 units.

The "Havana" hitmaker is the first woman in three years to hit No. 1 with her debut full-length album. She additionally joins the elite list of female performers who initially reached the Billboard 200 as part of a group, and then later hit No. 1 with a solo album. Other stars in the club are Beyonce Knowles and her former Destiny's Child groupmate LeToya Luckett, Gwen Stefani, Lauryn Hill, Patti LaBelle, Stevie Nicks, Diana Ross, Janis Joplin, Linda Ronstadt as well as Selena Gomez, who had three charted albums as part of Selena Gomez & The Scene before going solo with "Stars Dance" in 2013.

Back to this week's chart, "The Greatest Showman" soundtrack slips to No. 2 with 104,000 units (increasing by 1 percent compared to the previous week). The album actually beat "Camila" in traditional album sales (70,000 vs. 65,000) and is the top-selling album of the week.

Ed Sheeran's "Divide (division sign)" also drops one slot to No. 3 with 47,000 units (down 10 percent). Post Malone's "Stoney", on the other hand, rises 5 to 4 with 35,000 units (down 5 percent). Taylor Swift's "Reputation" also climbs, from No. 6 to 5 with just over 33,000 units (down 9 percent).

G-Eazy's "The Beautiful & Damned" loses three places from No. 3 to No. 6 with 33,000 units (down 12 percent). Kendrick Lamar's "DAMN." ascends 8-7 with (30,000 units (down 15 percent), swapping place with Eminem's "Revival" which slips one rung to No. 8 with 29,000 units (down 20 percent).

Lil Uzi Vert's "Luv Is Rage 2" is back into the top 10 at No. 9 with 28,000 units (down 4 percent). Rapper Lil Skies' album "Life of a Dark Rose" rounds out the top 10 with 28,000 units (up 65 percent), jumping from No. 23 in its second week on the chart.
