Justin Bieber's mom, Pattie Mallette, has given Selena Gomez an official seal of approval. In a new interview with PEOPLE, Pattie has nothing but a high praise for the "Wolves" singer, who has rekindled her romance with her son.
"I don't know so much about their personal relationship because he doesn't share a whole lot, but I love her," the Canadian heartthrob's mom said at the Justice Speaks Holiday Benefit Luncheon in L.A. on Saturday, December 9.
She went on speaking of 25-year-old Selena, "I support anything [Justin does], if he loves her I love her, and I've met her and we have a special bond so I think she's precious. I can't really speak on their relationship, that's between them."
During the event, Justin was in attendance to accompany his mom, who was tapped as a keynote speaker. The 23-year-old "Descapito" hitmaker donned a white T-shirt, teaming it up with black pants and red sneakers. It was said that Justin had a Bible with him the whole time.
"I think he's just keeping his focus on God, and really trying to figure out what counts and what matters," Pattie, who looked stunning in a black dress, said of Justin. "I think he's trying to be somehow normal in such an abnormal world, trying to find that balance. I feel like he's growing up and I'm really proud of him."
Pattie didn't detail Justin's rekindled relationship with the former Disney darling, whom he dated on-and-off since 2010. However, Pattie noted that having love in his life makes Justin more grounded.
Justin took to his Instagram account to share a red carpet photo at the event. "Love you mom!! So proud of you and your heart for people.. you inspire me to be better..," so he wrote in the caption.
Justin and Selena first sparked a reunion rumor after the pair were spotted together in numerous outings, before they appeared to confirm it as they were seen sharing a kiss in public during a hockey game at Los Angeles Valley Ice Center in Ventura. The reunited couple spent the holidays separately though, as Justin reportedly wanted to give his girlfriend time to be with her family.
The couple later reunited in a romantic date in a Beverly Hills hotel on Wednesday, November 29 after attending an evening church service together. At one point, Justin and Selena were spotted sharing a hug. The former Disney darling could be seen closing her eyes as she wrapped her arms around the "Sorry" hitmaker's neck.
