After Kensington Palace announced the 36-year-old actress' engagement to Prince Harry, the network released an official statement regarding Meghan's departure from the series. "From all of us at USA Network and Universal Cable Productions, we want to send our most heartfelt congratulations to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on their engagement," USA Network wrote in the statement posted on its website.

"Meghan has been a member of our family for seven years and it has been a joy to work with her. We want to thank her for her undeniable passion and dedication to 'Suits', and we wish her the very best," the statement continued.

Speaking of her character Rachel, Meghan said in a statement, "[Rachel] has really grown up quite a bit over the last seven years." She added that her seven-year journey with the character was "amazing."

Aaron Korsh, the series creator, took to his Twitter account to send well wishes to Meghan. "Congratulations to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on their engagement. Wonderful news, I wish you both a lifetime of happiness. Love, Aaron," Korsh wrote.

Meghan's co-star Patrick J. Adams, however, won the best reaction to his on-screen lover's royal engagement. Retweeting Kensington Palace's announcement of the engagement, Patrick, who plays Michael Ross on the drama, joked, "She said she was just going out to get some milk..."

He went on writing in a separate tweet, "Playing Meghan's television partner for the better part of a decade uniquely qualifies me to say this: Your Royal Highness, you are a lucky man and I know your long life together will be joyful, productive and hilarious. Meghan, so happy for you, friend. Much love."

Nor stopping there, Patrick kept going with his milk joke as he tweeted, "So…no milk?" alongside a link to an article announcing Meghan's departure from "Suits".

Meghan was one of the original cast members of the series, which premiered in June 2011.

The Palace recently announced that a royal wedding for Meghan and Harry would take place in May 2018 at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. "Her Majesty The Queen has granted permission for the wedding to take place at the Chapel. The Royal Family will pay for the wedding," a statement revealed.
