It was also revealed that the character would be a series regular on the spin-off of AMC's zombie apocalypse series.

AceShowbiz - After a long speculation about which character who will be crossing over in next year's crossover between "The Walking Dead" and its spin-off "Fear the Walking Dead", we finally have the answer. On Sunday, November 26, AMC officially announced which character would end up on which show, and it's not Abraham.

During Sunday's episode of "Talking Dead", it was announced that "The Walking Dead" character Morgan, who went missing for several seasons on "The Walking Dead", would be joining in the fourth season of "Fear the Walking Dead". Lennie James, the actor who plays the character, is set to start filming on Monday, November 27.

The revelation comes as a surprise as Morgan was not even in fans' list of long-presumed characters to be crossing over in the upcoming event. The most popular fan theories, instead, suggested that the character was either Abraham ("The Walking Dead"), since he's from Houston, or Madison ("Fear the Walking Dead") since her Southern accent might indicate that she could be related to one of "The Walking Dead" characters.

According to sources, James would be a series regular on "Fear the Walking Dead". The actor appeared to be hinting that as well, with him saying, "The hardest part of it from beginning until now has been leaving 'The Walking Dead'; leaving that cast and leaving that crew. And I've said my goodbyes to the cast and stuff, and I've said my goodbyes to the crew." However, showrunner Scott M. Gimple reassured "even though Morgan is going to be featured on 'Fear', he still has a lot of story left on 'The Walking Dead'."

It remains to be seen though, how the two shows will match their separate timeline. Franchise creator Robert Kirkman previously said that "Fear", which set up a move to Texas in season 3 finale, took place roughly around the time of season 1 and the beginning of season 2 in "The Walking Dead". Fans speculated that the folks from "Fear" might meet up with Morgan, who during the time was separated from Rick, without having a time jump.

Another theory said that the spin-off would be having a fast-forward, putting the events of the show concurrent with those now on "The Walking Dead". Morgan, who moved on from Alexandria at the end of season 8 of "The Walking Dead", potentially encounters whoever is alive on "Fear".
