AceShowbiz - A slew of celebrities voiced their support for Cyntoia Brown, a sex trafficking victim who is sentenced to life in prison after killing her sex abuser in 2004. Rihanna was the first celebrity to address the issue on social media. Taking to her Instagram account, the "Umbrella" hitmaker wrote, "Did we somehow change the definition of #JUSTICE along the way??" alongside a picture of Brown.
Rihanna went on saying, "Something is horribly wrong when the system enables these rapists and the victim is thrown away for life! To each of you responsible for this child's sentence I hope to God you don't have children, because this could be your daughter being punished for punishing already!" She concluded her post with the hashtags #FREECYNTOIABROWN and #HowManyMore.
According to a picture which Rihanna shared, 16-year-old Brown was sex-trafficked by a pimp named "cut-throat." After days of being drugged and raped by different men, she was later "purchased by a 43-year-old child predator" who took her to his home to use her for sex. The Nashville woman, however, is now serving a life sentence in Tennessee Prison for Women after she shot her abuser to death with a 40-caliber handgun as he lay naked beside her. She was convicted as an adult of murdering Nashville real estate agent Johnny Mitchell Allen.
In less than two hours, the post garnered people's attention as almost 700,000 accounts left likes on it.
Following the singer's post which led to #FREECYNTOIABROWN trending on Twitter, a number of celebrities also took to their social media accounts to demand justice for Brown. Among them was Kim Kardashian, who tweeted, "The system has failed. It's heart breaking to see a young girl sex trafficked then when she has the courage to fight back is jailed for life! We have to do better & do what's right. I've called my attorneys yesterday to see what can be done to fix this. #FreeCyntoiaBrown."

Joining them in speaking out against this injustice, Amanda Abbington wrote, "So this needs to be addressed and rectified. This is a huge miscarriage of justice. Spread the word. It's too dreadful. #FreeCyntoiaBrown." Lauren Jauregui added, "#imagine and what the actual fuck kind of justice is this? I wonder if that 43 year old would've been caught if he'd face his life in prison. But alas, he would not. We need to stop punishing and shaming victims, telling them it is their fault is untrue. #FreeCyntoiaBrown NOW."
