Meek Mill has been sentenced to two to four years in state prison for violating probation in a nearly decade-old gun and drug case. The ex-boyfriend of Nicki Minaj was spotted arriving at a Philadelphia court on Monday, November 6 before a judge ruled that he violated multiple provisions of his probation.
Mill seemed stunned at the sentence from Common Pleas Court Judge Genece E. Brinkley, according to Philly.com. "I gave you break after break and you basically just thumbed your nose at this court," Brinkley told Mill. She said the rapper's sentence would be served in state prison where he would be eligible for state parole supervision after two years. "Then, I'll be done with you," Brinkley added.
Brinkley cited a failed drug test and a failure to comply with a court order restricting his travel. The sentence came as a surprise though, since prosecutors recommended Mill not to be imprisoned for the probation violations, noting that the rapper's been off drugs since January and has complied with most requirements of probation.
However, Brinkley said she'd been trying to help Mill for about a decade and that he just did whatever he wanted. The rapper was then immediately handcuffed and taken from the court. His lawyer has vowed to appeal.

Actor Kevin Hart wrote on Instagram, "Praying for my brother @meekmill right now. God sometimes puts the toughest battles on his strongest soldiers. I'm here for you man!!!! My brother for life...Always here for you man!!!" The "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" actor added, "This storm will pass...Stay strong & keep your head up."

"More proof that our criminal justice system is a joke," Torrey Smith commented. The Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver added in another tweet, "Throwing folks in jail for 2-4 years for misdemeanor violations is just a waste of money....too long."
