But fans of Marvel movies are pleasantly surprised when they see %cMatt Damon% at the early part of "Thor: Ragnarok". Damon looked almost unrecognizable in long black wig and villain outfit, making some cinemagoers unsure about what they had seen.

The "Jason Bourne" actor made his appearance in minutes 15-20 of the film. [SPOILER ALERT!] His cameo begins after Thor defeats an evil fire monster and returns to his home planet in order to find his father, Odin. The citizens are portrayed by %cLuke Hemsworth% who dresses as Thor, %cSam Neill% who channels Odin, and Damon who acts as Loki in the play. It is known later that the play is written by Loki, who has time to ghost-write a play about his supposed demise.

When asked by Entertainment Weekly about how they squeezed Damon into the film, director Taika Watiti answered, "Well, Matt and Chris are very good friends." He explained, "We were looking for someone to play Loki, and it felt like if Loki was going to write a play about his death, he'd want the star of the Asgard theater scene to be in the play."

The movie has a star-studded cast, which includes %cChris Hemsworth% as Thor, %cMark Ruffalo% as The Hulk, Sir %cAnthony Hopkins% as Odin, %cTessa Thompson% as Valkyrie, %cIdris Elba% as Heimdall, %cBenedict Cumberbatch% as Doctor Strange, %cKarl Urban% as Kurge, %cJeff Goldblum% as En Dwi Gast, %cClancy Brown% as Surtur, %cTom Hiddleston% as Loki and %cCate Blanchett% as the villain of the film, Hela. The third "Thor" film changes the formula of the "Thor" franchise with its major twists and hilarious moments, but it provides a refreshing effect in the film.
