Rihanna Displays Rap Skills in N.E.R.D's 'Lemon'

The 'Love on the Brain' songstress proves that she is not only a good singer, but also a good rapper in Pharrell Williams-fronted band's comeback song.

AceShowbiz - Even though she hasn't released an album in 2017, Rihanna has engaged herself in collaborating with other artists. N.E.R.D is among them. On November 1, the Pharrell Williams-fronted band and Rihanna unveiled a song entitled "Lemon" along with the music video.

If you expect that the "We Found Love" hitmaker would showcase her beautiful voice as usual, then you're wrong. Instead, Rihanna shows off her amazing rap skills. After Pharrell finishes his high-pitched verse, the "Umbrella" hitmaker doesn't wait too long to start spitting her lines. "I get it how I live it/ I live it how I get/ Count the mothaf***in' digits/ I pull up with a lemon," she rhymes.

The music video, which was unleashed shortly after the song's premiere on Beats 1, opens with the sentence, "No one ever really dies." The scene then switches to show Rihanna, sitting on a bed, shaving Pharrell's back dancer Mette Towley's head. The dancer ends up being the focus of the clip as she dances at a flea market.

This is not the first time the 29-year-old singer showcases her rap skills. In fact, it was her 14th time. She first did that back in 2007 when she released her third studio album "Good Girl Gone Bad". With the help of popular rappers such as Timbaland and Jay-Z, Rihanna managed to spit lines about gold-digging in track "Lemme Get That". "I bought me a Benz, you buy me the yacht/ A girl need a lot, the girl need some stocks/ Bonds is what I got, bonds is what I got," she raps.

The "Take a Bow" hitmaker later continued to improve her skill, releasing a lot of tracks that contained her raps. Among them were "Raining Men", "Birthday Cake (Remix)" featuring Chris Brown, "Pour It Up" and "B***h Better Have My Money".
